The Exmoor Extroverts
are based in West Somerset and started life in 1999 with a trip
to see Phantom of the Opera. This proved to be so popular I was
asked to arrange some more outings. From that small beginning
we have grown: last year over thirty outings were arranged; plus
a holiday in Prague for the Music Festival and one in Worcester
for the Three Choirs Festival. In addition there were three trips
to theatres and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
For most events we use
a coach from Ridlers - they start from the junction of King Edward
Road with Alexandra Road in Minehead, pick up on the way to Williton
then go via Taunton or Bridgwater depending on destination. For
local outings we may use our own cars; but lifts can usually be
organised. Unless the outing is very local an optional meal is
normally arranged, at a reasonable cost, before the evening performances.
During the past year or
so, we have enjoyed concerts at Exeter University, Exeter and
Wells Cathedrals and at St. Mary Magdalene’s and King’s
College Chapel in Taunton. We’ve been to productions at
the Theatre Royal at Bath, the Northcott Theatre in Exeter, the
Millennium Centre in Cardiff, The Colston Hall and the Hippodrome
in Bristol. We have visited gardens, been racing at Ascot, visited
Windsor Castle and a host of other interesting destinations.
